In recent years studies have documented various impairments of the cervical and axio-scapular muscles in people with neck pain. In addition, impaired proprioception, oculomotor disturbances and impaired postural control may be present in patients with neck pain. Collectively, this knowledge has directed contemporary rehabilitation approaches to include a program of specific exercises which are based on careful and precise movement analysis and muscle testing.

 

 

 


This specific therapeutic exercise approach for the management of cervical disorders has been shown to reduce the symptoms of neck pain and headache and improve various parameters of muscle function which are known to be impaired in patients with neck pain. This approach to therapeutic exercise for the management of cervical disorders will be presented within this clinical workshop.
